5 More Things to do During the Holiday Season

Bull Run Festival of Lights

Bull Run Festival of Lights

C – Winter has consumed the Washington, DC area and it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Here are 5 more things to do that will get you in the holiday mood:

  1. Elf the Musical at the Kennedy Center Opera House
One of my favorite holiday movies is a musical now, and it’s actually getting decent reviews. I had my doubts, but I think I might check this out.
    Dec. 17, 2013 – Jan. 5, 2014
    Tickets are $35.00 – $150.00
  2. A Christmas Carol at Ford’s Theatre
They do this every year, and it’s one of those things you have to do at least once to consider yourself a true Washingtonian.
    November 21, 2013-January 1, 2014
    Tickets are $32.00 – $99.60
  3. ICE! at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center
I did this three years ago and, I have to say, it was fun. I went with my friend and her family and we ended up hogging the ice slide. The kids got bored with it after a few runs, but we couldn’t stop.
    November 15, 2013 – January 5, 2014
Tickets are $74.99*/person or $249.99* for a family up to five
  4. Bull Run Festival of Lights in Centreville
Now this is a light display. It’s a little far out from the center of DC, but totally worth braving 66 if you’re into something different.
    November 20, 2013 to January 5, 2014
    Monday – Thursday: 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
    Fridays – Sunday & holidays*:  5:30 to 10 p.m.
Tickets are $15 – $55 depending on your vehicle type.
  5. ZooLights at the National Zoo
So you won’t be able to see the baby panda, but there’s so much to do at this annual event you won’t even remember that she’s there. Plus, you can give back through five different, onsite charity programs.
    November 29, 2013 – January 1, 2014, 5:00pm – 9:00pm
    It’s free!
